N2 - This article is based on a doctoral thesis entitled Erich Fromm’s socialist humanism. >Cuius regio eius religio<. It shows how Willi Münzenberg pushed the intellectuals into the communist ideology, as it was never done before. It was motivated by the search of an Utopia that aiming to overcome the old values will allow to get the control over them. The Soviet Union manipulated the sense of solidarity, peace and a solid opposition to war and fascism in order to incorporate supporters and collaborators into its political aims. Despite critiquing Fromm’s tendency to give insufficient attention to the >the individual fate of the person,< such as would be necessary to explain the differences between Freud and Ferenczi, in expounding his concept of the >social character,< the present paper argues that Fromm’s >calling card,< published while Freud was still alive, is >one of the greatest papers in the psychoanalytic literature.< Y1 - 2024 ER - TY - JOUR A1 - Russell, Bertrand T1 - Elogio de la ociosidad JF - E. Penulis menggunakan studi pustaka sebagai metode pengumpulan data dan informasi tentang objek penelitian melalui buku dan internet. N2 - The analysis project >Motherly Love in Edgar Allan Poe's 'To My Mother'< examines the intrinsic elements and the concept of motherly love in the poem >To My Mother< by Edgar Allan Poe. The author uses literature study as a method of collecting data and information about research objects through books and the internet. The author uses a literary psychology approach with Erich Fromm's theory of love to find out the love that a mother gives to her child. From the results of the analysis, the author found the concept of love given by a mother to her child, in this poem not all children get the love of a mother from their biological mother, but there are other people who are able to replace the mother's role and give love to a child even though the child is not is his biological child. The concept of love that the writer finds is in accordance with the concept of motherly love, Erich Fromm's theory of love. N2 - The inner structure of eudaimonistic virtue ethics has standardly been charged with egoism and anthropocentrism, which also seems to endanger the project of an environmental virtue ethics. Proceeding from the virtue ethics of Erich Fromm, the present article tries to develop a new perspective on these standard accusations by discussing the theoretical implications of the recognition of biophilia – the love of life – as a human virtue in the Frommian approach. The initially exegetically oriented discussion of the internal relation of humanistic and biophilic ethics in Erich Fromm’s work eventually leads to a more systematically oriented discussion of the inner dynamic of self- and environment-related virtues in the virtuous agent. In the course of this discussion, it will become clear that the self-related striving to attain eudaimonia and the environment-related striving to promote the object of one’s own love can get into a conflict with one another. This conflict, however, does not lead to the self-effacement of virtue ethics but unfolds a productive dynamic in the virtuous agent. In this way, the classical juxtaposition of anthropocentrism and biocentrism within ethics can be avoided. Y1 - 2022 ER - TY - JOUR A1 - Rubin, Jeffrey B. [Print ISSN 2456-4761] [journalarjass.com/index.php/ARJASS/article/view/289/577] N2 - During the psychoanalytic discovery and investigation of Psychoneurosis, theoretical scaffoldings offered by Freudian theory were expansive and rich but still incomplete. Amongst the Neo-Freudians, Fromm began unearthing the psychopathology of the society under the heavy influence of Marx. Fromm remarked that the grown-up patient was not a child but an alienated adult who was seen as the neurotic. Feelings of inadequacy, worthlessness and inhibition occurred because the patient did not experience himself as the subject and originator of his own acts and experiences. Alienation had thus caused the neuroses to occur. Ushering in >spiritual liberation< along with complete change of the >economic social constellation< for Fromm were the necessary prerequisites before envisioning a cure of societal pathologies rooted in the contemporary mode of production. Freud on the other hand was skeptical about the application of psychoanalysis to civilization. He ringed in caution to the application of systems of knowledge developed at the individual level when projected to more global levels. Diagnosis of a >collective neurosis< would be tedious since no starting point associated with its development could emerge as the fixation point. Another hurdle that needed to be addressed according to Freud was that even if a substantial system of knowledge did take shape its implementation would be a herculean task. It would take great skill and courage to compel a community to become aware of its blind spots and become available to therapy. Thus, the growth and development of Psychoneurosis had charted a trajectory from the unexplored abysmal depths of the psyche to the more gross levels of societal productions. This paper attempts to establish links between the classic concept of Psychoneurosis and the larger gamut of modern-day society’s psychic reflections. Conversely, the analyst who mentalizes the state of mind of the patient and verbalizes it heteroregulates the patient’s fears and anxiety level. Mentalization and affect regulation are also related to the analyst’s recognition of the patient’s metacognition process. At the conclusion of the theoretical section, a clinical sketch shows examples, and highlights in therapeutic work the abovementioned theoretical issues.
