We show how Fromm links the psyche and the social, explaining how social structures shape psychological needs and how these needs, in turn, act back on society. We also state the normative core of his approach: a humanist account of shared relatedness and human capacities, while treating sociopsychological dynamics as historically mediated. Finally, we preview the articles in the following issue, which span leadership and organizations, digital communication and online outrage, ideological conflict and populism, debates over (anti-/post-/trans-)humanism, and case studies of cooperative and solidarity practices. Learning to cope with this contingency requires (re)construction of people's identity. In this study, we critically analyze the narratives of change and the consumption practices of Brazilians interviewed during the period of social distancing. We follow a critical social-psychological approach based on the works of Fromm, Rosa and K{\"u}hn. Our results show that the pandemic encourages people to reflect responsibly on their consumption, but also highlight how consumption contributes to the reproduction of social inequality, leading to polarizations within society.}, language = {en} }
