@misc{Erath, author = {Erath, Larry}, title = {The influences of Erich Fromm on psychotherapy. Thesis at Ball State University 1973.}, abstract = {The problem presented in this research paper is to determine the influence of the new-Freudian Erich Fromm upon psychotherapy. As this paper is strictly a research paper, the method used is primary library research. However, a film was also reviewed and personal correspondence with Erich Fromm was attempted. The first chapter of this research paper consists of a biography of Erich Fromm. It is necessary to see the influences in Fromm's life that shaped his later philosophies toward his fellowmen. Since Frpmm has not yet written directly on psychotherapy, his other writings must be read and inferences from his theories must be drawn to psychotherapy. This is attempted in Chapter II. Next the film on Erich Fromm that was reviewed is discussed. It is followed by a definition and short history of psychotherapy as depicted by Ford and Urban. Before one can relate to any of Fromm's theories on psychotherapy, he must first be familiar with the basic premises of psychoanalysis. This is the purpose of Chapter V. Fromm's theoretical concepts are discussed in the next chapter and they are followed by a discussion of Fromm's >humanistic psychoanalysis< in Chapter VII. The concluding chapter is an attempt to synthesise all of the previous chapters into a conclusion reaching summary on how Erich Fromm has influenced psychotherapy.}, language = {en} }
