In this diseased modern time, people thirst for love and confidant, they complain that it's so hard to get true love or a bosom friend. Erich Fromm (1900-1980), a Jewish scholar of German-American point out that the biggest mistake, which people made in their way of pursue love is like this: people regard love as an exterior object and the gain of love is mostly equated with the possession of things. Actually, love is an active and developed ability of human beings, it is an ability which accelerates and makes people's essence more abundant. Sometimes, the use of this kind of ability is just like art. The theory of Fromm is an applied subject of >art of living<, he tried to make it in practice and found a right society. It requests people advance their quality by heart. >Brotherliness<, >motherhood<, >sex<, >self-love<, love of belief, and so on, all of them are the way to the integrity of personality and the rescue of soul. If people do not develop their whole personality and inspire their creative, all kinds of love would be lost; if people lose the ability of love others and cannot civilly >bravely<, >sincerely< orderly love others, they would never feel satisfy in their life. In Fromm's opinion, the true love is to impart but not to gain. He regards love as people's answer to their own subsistence. Love is a huge power from the cooperation and unification of people. He was a famous representative figure of Frankfurt school, who upheld the characteristics of Frankfurt school and contributed his whole life to learn on the doctrine of Freud and Marx, constructing his humanitarian ethical thoughts. The love theory was the core of his humanitarian ethical thoughts. The main purpose of this thesis is to do a research on the thoughts of Fromm's Love. It analyzes the characters of his thoughts and makes an evaluation at the same time.- First of all, the thesis introduces the background of his ethical thoughts, including his life experience, ideological origins, especially the theoretical mainstay of Fromm's thoughts (synthesizing Freud's and Marx's thoughts), which can be helpful to provide the historical, the theoretical and methodological background in studying the thoughts of Fromm's love.- Then, this thesis elaborates the core of Fromm's humanitarian ethical thoughts - the theory of love. Fromm's love began with human surroundings, which puts forward a new horizon to analyze the love. On the basis of uniting the society and the human beings, Fromm utilized spiritual analysis to reveal the inner world of the human beings. By studying the instincts, demands and personality of human beings, Fromm made a deeper excavation on love, which makes it possible for us to understand the parental love, sexual love, self-love and compatriots' love etc. Meanwhile, Fromm analyzed and criticized various symbiotic love. He used alienation as a weapon to diagnose the disintegration of love, which broadens the scope of our understanding on love.- Finally, this thesis makes an evaluation on the thoughts of Fromm's love. On the one hand, it admits the achievements and the realistic significance of the ethical thoughts of Fromm's love, but on the other hand it also points out the limitations of his thoughts. Fromm always called for >the society full of love<. He thought that if people hope to smooth away the abnormal state, the key factor was to study how to love and set up the religion of love in the society, which could make the human society a kind one. Though there are some limitations, Fromm's theory has some important theoretical values and realistic significance. In a word, Fromm's ethical thoughts on love are worth studying.}, language = {zh} } @misc{Chessick, author = {Chessick, Richard D.}, title = {Review Alainde Mijolla Thomson: International Dictionary of Psychoanalysis, 3 volumes}, series = {The Journal of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, Vol. 34 (2006), pp. 570-573.}, journal = {The Journal of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, Vol. 34 (2006), pp. 570-573.}, language = {en} } @misc{Slipp, author = {Slipp, Samuel}, title = {Review Allan N. Fromm's primary emphasis is on evaluating the sanity of contemporary western societies, which he suggests often deny its citizens' basic human needs of productive activity, self-actualisation, freedom, and love. He suggests that the mental health of a society cannot be assessed in an abstract manner but must focus on specific economic, social, and political factors at play in any given society and should consider whether these factors contribute to insanity or are conducive to mental stability. Ultimately >The Sane Society< provides a radical critique of democratic capitalism that goes below surface symptoms to get to the root causes of alienation and to suggest ways to transform contemporary societies to further the productive activities of its citizens. Fromm envisions the refashioning of democratic capitalist societies based on the tenants of communitarian socialism, which stresses the organisation of work and social relations between its citizens rather than on issues of ownership.}, language = {en} } @article{Binder, author = {Binder, P. -E.}, title = {Searching for the enriching sense of otherness: The psychoanalytic psychotherapist as a meaning-bearing other}, series = {International Forum of Psychoanalysis, Basingstoke (Routledge - Taylor and Francis) Vol. 15 (No. 3, September 2006), pp. 162-168.}, journal = {International Forum of Psychoanalysis, Basingstoke (Routledge - Taylor and Francis) Vol. 15 (No. 3, September 2006), pp. 162-168.}, language = {en} } @article{ZhaoHu, author = {Zhao, Chun-ni and Hu, Kun}, title = {Seeking the Perfect Personality - On Fromm's Humanistic Psychoanalytic Therapy Concept [健全人格的追寻——弗洛姆人本主义精神分析治疗观述评]}, series = {Science and Technology Information (Academic Research) [科技信息(学术研究)], No. 8 (2006), pp. 352-353.}, journal = {Science and Technology Information (Academic Research) [科技信息(学术研究)], No. 8 (2006), pp. 352-353.}, abstract = {弗洛姆的人本主义精神分析治疗观的研究思路是跳出单纯从解剖学和生物意义上把握人的圈子,结合马克思对人的认识论,从人的处境出发,揭示人存在的矛盾是心理疾病的根源,通过对当代资本主义社会现实的分析,指出现代人生存的困境——异化是心理疾病的直接原因;在对心理疾病成因作出分析的基础上,弗洛姆进而提出了他的心理治疗的目标——从健全人格的追寻到健全社会的追求,并提出了具体的心理治疗的步骤和方法。}, language = {zh} } @misc{Sutarno, author = {Sutarno,}, title = {Seni Mencintai Menurut Erich Fromm - Telaah atas Buku >The Art of Loving< (Erich Fromm) [The Art of Loving according to Erich Fromm - Review of >The Art of Loving< (Erich Fromm)], Bachelor thesis, Aqidah and Philosophy, Faculty Ushuluddin, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Yogyakarta, Java, Indonesia 2006, 73 pp., Indonesian.}, abstract = {Mencintai seseorang adalah suatu tindakanYang memanifestasikan rasa kasih saying yang sangat manusiawi dan universal. In Fromm's opinion, alienation on consumption originates from the unchangeable human nature and the social system is another external factor. It is a result of the distortion of human nature in the industrial capitalism in the 20th century. People in alienation on consumption can only get illusory happiness and freedom. People have lost the real experience of consumption and the desire of human nature can't be satisfied. People are suffering from psychological pains. However, it isn't the only result.
