Author (mandatory)
Please enter all authors in subsequent order of the document you would like to upload. Authors are persons who are responsible for the intellectual content, for example authors of text documents, artists, photographers or illustrators for visual documents. If you are uploading an article which was published in a journal by the authors “Meier, Martin / Müller, Martina / Schulze, Sabrina” please enter the authors in the same order. Please enter (if possible) the email addresses of all authors.

Organizations / Departments / Institutes of the University of Bayreuth (mandatory)
Please choose to which organization, department or institute of the University of Bayreuth the authors belong to. By clicking on detailed you can choose from a more detailed listing of a faculty. If you cannot assign your title to a specific organizations, special groups, institute please choose your faculty. You may add more institutes by clicking on the according button (or delete them). This can be important for the publishing statistics of a single organization.

Language of publication (mandatory)
Please enter the language of the text. If the text was published in different languages please choose one.

Title (mandatory)
Please enter the title of your document or object. Especially for online publications it is good to enter the title in a second language (e.g. english and german) so that your publication can be found more easily by search engines. You may add more titles by clicking on the according button (or delete them). If you are publishing an online dissertation the title in a second language is required.

Publisher or/and other persons involved
Definition: additional persons to those already mentioned in the field author. If for example you have made an intellectual contribution to a work but the contribution is second compared to the main contribution of the leading author (co-author, translator, illustrator, head of conference, moderator, sponsor, organisator,...). Please enter the role of the involved person like “Meier, Ed.; Schmidt, illustrator;... . You may add more entries (or delete them) by clicking on the according button.
This is not a mandatory but a very desirable element to be filled out if more than one person in various functions have contributed to the document.

Publishing institution / conference data
If the work was not published by a person but by a institution please fill out this field accordingly (e.g. “XY-Foundation“). If the entry is meant for a conference please fill in the conference data in the following form: conference name, number, year, place.
Definition: the organizations which are responsible for publishing the intellectual contents of the document. Organizations (in librarian terms called bodies) are mostly responsible for the intellectual contents of a document if it was written by a team of authors or if no specific author was mentioned in the document (e.g. in examination regulations).

Primary reviewer, supervisor, date of the final examination, institution giving the degree
These entries must only be filled out for degree thesis’s (dissertation, habilitation, bachelor-, master- or diploma thesis). The institution giving the title does not necessarily have to correspond to the publishing institution.

Year of publication (mandatory)
Please enter the year in which the document was published. Works made available through a publishing house may already have been made accessible online through a homepage before appearing in a journal issue. If this is the case please enter the online publication date into the corresponding field.

Online publication date (mandatory)
Here you should enter the date when your document was published on the document server of the University of Bayreuth. If your work has not been published before please enter today’s date.
This field is also important is you would like to publish your work in OPUS but the work has already been published otherwise. Some publishing houses only allow the parallel subsequent publication of the work after a certain time. Then please enter the earliest possible date when we are allowed to publish your work.
You do not have to wait with the entry of your document until the deadline is over. You can upload your document and it will be published automatically as soon as the deadline is over. Please check your publishing contract from the publishing house in order to see when a second online publication of your work on an institutional repository is allowed. If you do not have your publishing contract at hand you can check by looking into the SHERPA/ROMEO-List which lists the known deadlines for certain publishing houses.

Parent title
Please enter the title of the parent work (i.e. series title, journal, compilation, anthology).

Volume / year, issue
These forms are only to be filled out when dealing with articles in journals and complete journal issues. The relevant data is mainly found in the imprint information on the first pages or the cover. If the article is published in a journal without year or issue numbering you can leave the field empty.

Page number
Please enter the documents page number or the file’s playing length. For articles please fill out in the form „first page – last page“, for movies or sound by entering the length in minutes.

If your work has been published inside of a series of the University of Bayreuth you can choose the according series via the drop-down-menu. If your work was published in a other series please enter its title in the field “other series”. Please also enter (if known) the issue number of the series.

Other series
Please enter in which series the work was published if you could not find the series in the list of the drop-down-menu.

Please enter the edition e.g. „2. edition“ or „3. fully revised edition“. If it is the first edition you do not have to fill out this field.

Place of publication
Please enter the city where the publishing house is located.

Abstract (up to 5000 characters) (mandatory)
Definition: a description of a resource in the form of a small report about the contents or a description of the contents of a visual work. The description should not exceed 5000 characters. It can be inserted via copy and pasted from the document for example if an abstract to your article already exists. If an abstract does not already exist you could also copy the introduction, the summary or the contents section.
A short summary of your text can help others when searching for relevant information. In scientific databases and search engines these abstracts are indexed even if the full text of the article is not. Your work can therefore be found more easily if a good abstract is given.
You can add more abstracts in other languages by clicking on the according button. When publishing a dissertation or a habilitation an additional abstract in a second language (first abstract in the publication language and second abstract in German or English depending on the language of the publication) is mandatory.

Tags (mandatory)
Tags (minimum 1, maximal 5) for describing the contents of your work via a controlled vocabulary must be chosen from this controlled vocabulary. In addition you also have the possibility to give more free tags if you cannot find the corresponding terms in the controlled vocabulary. For a better exploitation of your work you may also enter English tags.

Classification schemes
At the moment the following general and special classification schemes are available:
General: Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme (DDC) and the “Regensburger Verbundklassifikation“ (RVK)
subject related: Computing Classification System (CCS), Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC) and Physics and Astronomy Classification Scheme (PACS).
